Now with this trend all around the years, the gaming industry does increase globally and also through gaming tournaments which is called Esports now.
Esports is short for electronic sports which has also evolved into billion-dollar industry which can fills the stadiums and attract million of viewers of turn international players to celebrities.
The prize pool of these esports tournaments can go up to 40million dollars depending on how big the community of the game is, recently the esports world cup happened in 2025 and the prize pool of that tournament was 70million dollars(combined) that’s more than that’s more than t20 cricket world cup of which prize pool was 11million dollars for Olympics it was 2.4 million dollars for the gold medallists.
The production of the video games is a global activity, relying on international collaboration, outsourcings and digital distribution to reach players of worldwide. Like if a company is making game, firstly the concept and designs of the game can be made in their headquarters later on the development and coding of the game can be done by outsourcing and with skilled developers at low costs, for example Ubisoft has studios in Canada, France and India working on the same game and later on the bug testing or first playthrough is done by players from different parts of world to get all kinds of review on it.
Now the when it comes to distribution of games, physical copies are much less known now in today’s market now since people just can buy the digital copy of the game which can be delivered by Steam for computer and for consoles it’s from their respective network, like PlayStation network and Xbox live. With this level of outsourcing and global supply which is done digitally really cuts cost for the companies and speeds up the development.
While global productions make sure the efficiency the marketing and cultural adaptation also plays a huge role in whole video gaming business. Localizing language for the players, like for menu UI and dialogues and Voice actings. Plus, with marketing strategies on social media, on YouTube/twitch through gaming influencers.
In conclusion the gaming industry shows how technology, business strategy and culture intersect to create a truly worldwide market for video games, now that as technology goes advance the games will advance as well to do, and this market will keep on growing as well, and since because of such a big market, it wouldn’t be wrong to pursue your career in it to work behind the scenes while creating a medium of art.
